Domino Effect.

By: Natashia Hajee

Egypt has taken over the news this week, every single station is reporting on the revolution that has spread like wildfire. The conflict between the Mubarak regime and the Egyptian people has affected the rest of the Middle East and will continue to affect it, a country that is especially worried is Israel.

The previous post stated that the Israeli people were cautious and nervous about this revolution, however Al Jazeera is reporting that "some Jewish Israelis, fed up with the stalled peace process and frustrated with the status quo, said that they hope to see an uprising similar to Egypt's sweep through their own country." The article continues to quote women claiming that they wish that the people of Israel would rise up and ask for peace, however it is also stated that these women are a clear minority. Will Israel be effected by the revolution in Egypt?

Although it might not effect Israel, it is still creating a domino effect, with Jordanians beginning to protest. The question is will the Palestinians take on the same fight and try and overturn the PA?

There is no possible answer to any of these questions, however it is clear that whoever takes over Mubarak (because I strongly believe he will be taken down) the relationship with Israel will be ambiguous. Will the ties be severed? Many people believe so.

Only time will tell.
